5 Ways to Fix Creative Burnout

If you are working or studying in the creative industry, you will experience creative burnout once in a while. This feeling is similar to a writers block. You just can’t design the way you want to. You feel stuck, as if no creative juices come out. And the more work requires you to design and come up with something unique and out-of-this-world, you are just out of ideas.

Don’t fret! We’ve all been there. Here are 5 ways to fix this creative burnout, for you to start designing again:

1. Get away from the computer

Too much computer exposure can turn you to a zombie! Did you know the more work in front of the computer the entire day, the more likely you are to experience TATT (Tired all the time) Syndrome? Spending too much time in front of gadgets lessens your social interaction. So it’s good to get outdoors from time to time and get your daily dose of Vitamin D.

2. Try a regular sport

Starting your day with sports and exercise can help you recharge. When you exercise, your body releases chemicals called endorphins. These endorphins interact with the receptors in your brain and triggers a positive feeling in the body, which can alleviate your burnout state.

3. Read a good book

A fiction book can stimulate your imagination, helping you gain more ideas for your next project. A non-fiction book can help you broaden your mind and perspective about reality. A good comic can trigger your creative juices. A good magazine of your interest can be both entertaining and informative. When you read, it triggers your mind to think and imagine, which wakes you up from your burnout stupor.

4. Laugh

Laughter is really a good remedy when you feel a bit stuck. When you find yourself in a monotonous cycle called life, remember to find joy in the little things you do. There is nothing better than a good conversation with friends, and little laughter to get you back on your feet. Remember: Live. Laugh. Repeat.

5. Get a massage

When work gets too overwhelming, your body might be telling you to unwind. Getting a good massage calms your nerves and gets you away from everything you find stressful in life. The aromatherapy, nature sounds in the background, the absolute silence, and the untwisting of your stressed state may be a solution to your burnout. Give it a try, then go back to work with a rejuvenated body and a refreshed mind.
